What is Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is the fastest growing non-conventional health care therapy in America.

TCM combines the use of acupuncture, Chinese herbs, Qi-gong, and massage to create a state of harmonious balance within the body. Internal imbalances are seen as the root cause of illness and disease. Chinese medicine corrects these imbalances and accentuates the body's natural ability to heal itself.

The concept of Qi is at the heart of TCM. It is the vital force that brings energy to all that is living. In our body, the movement of Qi controls physiological actions as well as governs how we feel and think. The body is comprised of a complex network of channels (or pathways) where Qi flows. The Chinese medicine practitioner understands how to access these channels and alters the movement of Qi to bring about desired changes to the human body.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a primary component of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The body is comprised of specific points where energy is more abundant. Hundreds of points lie on channels throughout the body and acupuncture is the insertion of needles on these points. The needles have the ability to access, stimulate, and manipulate Qi.

Acupuncture needles are NOT the same needles you find in a doctor's office. They are hair-thin and insertion is often painless. In most cases, patients experience a sense of clarity and relaxation when these sterile needles are inserted.
